Case Studies - Wind Direct

Wind Direct is a ground-breaking company providing on-site generation to large commercial (often manufacturing) premises, enabling them to make considerable long-term savings in electricity costs. Originally a joint venture between three companies, WD had personnel working in many locations. All staff needed to record information and track progress of sites already identified, and new prospects.

Following consultation with the client I designed and wrote a database application that would be hosted on the internet. Access is via a per-user secure login, and the WD administrator can add or remove users. The system provides the following features:

• Company contact information
• Activity (CRM style)

• Uploading and sharing of files and documents
• Sharing of calendars (export from Outlook)
• Proximity queries (which sites are near a site or location)
• Full reporting facilities
