Thu, 02-Jan-03 Joint hullskins with Cascamite

Sat, 04-Jan-03 Disaster number 1! Hullskins scarf joints still aren't set. Must be the cold - there is a big freeze on outside and (unheated) the inside temperature hovers just above zero. Decide I must build the 'tent'. Purchase 25mm polystyrene slabs to insulate floor. Re-machine hullskins scarph joints. Start on the lighting, two flourescent tubes that will be on the same axis as the deckjig, giving excellent lighting

Sun, 05-Jan-03 Complete lighting and wiring, polythene tent, and polystyrene floor. Install heater. Great success - 20°C easily achieved inside 'tent' using a 2kW convector heater, even with sub zero temperatures outside... Glue hullskins again, this time with epoxy

Fri, 10-Jan-03 Sanding hullskins, fairing hull outline

Sat, 11-Jan-03 Cutting hullskins outlines

Sun, 12-Jan-03 Disaster number 2! Crystals in epoxy block up pump. Afternoon spent trying to get the crystals to dissolve. Heating the container in a bowl of water at 45°C finally works... Decide that epoxy need to be kept somewhere warmer than our pantry, resolve to build a poystyrene hot box (heated by a 100w lightbulb) to keep it in

Mon, 13-Jan-03 Construct hot box from 50mm foil backed insulation board. Thermostat seems very slow to react, the box cools down too far before it kicks in...

Wed, 15-Jan-03 Replace plug in thermostat with Honeywell roomstat. Works far better. Epoxy now has a new snug and warm home in the work area
